Last updated: June 11, 2026

Release Date

Burglin' Gnomes launched on Steam on June 10, 2026 for PC (Windows 10 and later). The game is developed and published by Fobri under Qubrion Ltd Oy. It is a paid title in the co-op stealth genre, priced at $9.99 USD with a 10% introductory discount until June 17, 2026.

The viral Steam demo was removed on June 1, 2026 so the developer could focus on the full release. An updated demo may return later. The full game supports online co-op for up to 6 players and includes a save system, home base upgrades, and multiple map scales.

  • Platform: PC via Steam (not available on Roblox or mobile)
  • Genre: Action, Adventure — co-op stealth heist
  • Players: 1–6 online co-op
  • Languages: 15 interface and subtitle languages
  • Mature content: Optional censored nudity; gnome dismemberment

How to Play

Burglin' Gnomes is a co-op stealth heist game where you play tiny gnomes breaking into human homes. The High-Gnome teleports your crew to a target house, assigns tasks, and expects results. Steal loot, cause mischief, gather crafting materials, and extract before the human catches you — or before you fail your orders.

Each run follows a three-phase loop: scout and enter the building, complete High-Gnome objectives while looting quietly, then extract to the island before time runs out. Between runs you return to your gnome home to craft gadgets, build furniture, and invest in permanent upgrades.

  • Scout entry points and note guard patrol routes before committing
  • Assign crew roles so one gnome watches detection while others work
  • Complete at least 3 required tasks before heading to extraction
  • Carry high-value loot but never sacrifice task completion for extras
  • Return home, craft upgrades, and pick a harder map when ready

Controls

Movement and interaction use standard action-game bindings on keyboard and gamepad. The unique mechanic is arm extension: your gnome reaches forward and backward with mouse or stick input to grab, lift, and manipulate objects. Objects too heavy can rip your arms off — they regrow, but you lose precious time.

Mastering arm control is the single biggest skill gap for new players. Practice extending slowly near shelves, drawers, and traps before attempting complex heists. Sprinting and throwing items increase noise, so combine crouch movement with deliberate arm movements during stealth segments.

Maps

Maps scale in size and difficulty across three tiers: Cottage (small), Manor (medium), and Estate (large). Larger maps have more rooms, more loot, and more detection risk. Pick a map that matches your crew size and experience — rushing into Estate with two beginners is a common wipe cause.

The Cottage is ideal for learning patrol patterns and the 3-task rule. Manor introduces multi-floor navigation and tighter timing. Estate demands coordinated roles, crafted gadgets, and a clear extraction plan from the start.

Cottage

Size
Small
Recommended Crew
2–3 gnomes
Risk Level
Low

Best for first runs. Learn patrols, the 3-task rule, and basic extraction.

Manor

Size
Medium
Recommended Crew
3–4 gnomes
Risk Level
Medium

Multi-floor layout. Bring mobility gadgets and assign a dedicated Scout.

Estate

Size
Large
Recommended Crew
4–6 gnomes
Risk Level
High

Full role split required. Craft S-tier gadgets before attempting.

Tasks

High-Gnome tasks fall into four categories: Steal (grab specific items), Mischief (sabotage like breaking a TV or flooding a toilet), Gather (collect crafting materials), and Craft (build a gadget mid-run). You need at least 3 completed tasks to pass any run.

  • Steal tasks are usually fastest and directly boost run score
  • Mischief tasks create distractions but take longer and raise noise
  • Gather tasks fuel mid-run crafting for advanced crews
  • Craft tasks require materials but pay off on longer Manor and Estate runs
  • Split tasks by category across crew members to avoid duplication

Items & Loot

Every object in a human home has potential value — silverware, electronics, paintings, jewelry, and trophies range from quick grabs to high-risk targets in locked rooms. Loot feeds your home economy: sell or repurpose items to craft gadgets and upgrade furniture.

  • Bedroom and study items tend to be high value but heavily patrolled
  • Kitchen items are fast grabs ideal for early Steal tasks
  • Bulk low-value items fill your Matchbox Backpack for crafting fuel
  • Task-required items take priority over optional high-value loot
  • Stage loot near exits during the final phase to speed extraction

Crafting & Gadgets

Between heists you enter the Reset Phase at your gnome home. Spend burgled materials to craft gadgets that persist across runs. Gadgets address mobility (grappling hooks), economy (larger backpacks), stealth (silencers), utility (multi-tools), and offense (melee weapons).

Crafting priority matters enormously in the first five runs. Invest in carry capacity and mobility before offensive gadgets. The Reset Phase economy scales with how much loot you extract during the Burgle Phase — a larger backpack accelerates every future upgrade.

  • Gather plasto canisters, metal scraps, and copper wire during runs
  • Craft at home between heists — not all gadgets can be built mid-run
  • Repurpose household items into gnome-scale equipment
  • Build functional furniture to unlock passive home bonuses
  • Avoid crafting F-tier gadgets early — they waste scarce materials

Gadget Tier List

This tier list ranks early-game gadgets by return on investment. Rankings reflect general co-op play; solo players may prioritize utility tools over mobility. Update your craft order as Fobri patches gadget balance.

Tier Gadget Function Priority
S Paperclip Grappling Hook Bypass floor hazards; reach high shelves Essential — craft first
S Matchbox Backpack Doubles carry capacity; accelerates home upgrades Essential — craft second
A Cotton-Swab Silencer Negates sprint noise; prevents early detection Highly recommended for Manor+
B Swiss-Army Safety Pin Multi-tool: lockpick, pry, minor defense Good for solo play
F Toothpick Shiv Low-damage melee; triggers human alert state Avoid early — wastes materials

Co-op Roles & Tips

Four core roles keep crews organized: Scout (patrol callouts and pathfinding), Hauler (inventory and loot routing), Distractor (noise events and mischief tasks), and Anchor (task completion and extraction timing). A 2-player crew can combine Scout + Anchor; 4–6 players should fill all roles.

  • Agree on a retreat signal before entering — one word, no ambiguity
  • Scout leads, Anchor confirms task count before extraction call
  • Hauler stages loot near exits during the final two minutes
  • Distractor triggers mischief only when the crew needs a window
  • Revive downed gnomes fast — the High-Gnome resents wasted resurrections

Stealth & Detection

Stealth is noise management. Sprinting, throwing objects, smashing items, and forced door openings spike your detection meter. Crouching reduces footstep volume. The human resident and pets react to sustained noise — brief spikes are recoverable, sustained alarms are not.

  • Crouch (Ctrl) indoors unless the Scout confirms a clear path
  • Sprint only on extraction or during planned distractions
  • Cotton-Swab Silencer negates sprint noise — craft early for A-tier stealth
  • Distractors should trigger noise far from task-focused gnomes
  • Watch the detection meter: yellow means slow down, red means hide

Upgrades & Home Base

Your gnome home is the meta-progression hub. Upgrade paths focus on movement speed, stealth modifiers, carry weight, crafting efficiency, and resurrection costs. Furniture builds unlock passive bonuses that compound over a full play session.

  • Prioritize carry weight and movement in the first 3 home upgrades
  • Stealth upgrades pay off on Manor and Estate where patrol density increases
  • Crafting efficiency reduces material costs for mid-tier gadgets
  • Functional furniture slots are limited — plan builds around your crew roles
  • Save expensive upgrades until you can consistently clear Cottage on hard
